James attended Santa Clara University graduating with two degrees, accounting and economics, in 1998, magna cum laude. James then attended Santa Clara University School of Law, ranking 4th out of his class of over 200 law students. He graduated with a JD, summa cum laude. James received exclusive "top of the class" awards in the following classes: contracts, torts, commercial transactions, wills and trusts, dispute resolution and criminal procedure. James externed with the Sixth District Court of Appeals. He then clerked with Hoover & Bechtel, LLP, for over 2 years.

James Hoover joined Hoover & Bechtel, LLP, after practicing corporate refinancing and bankruptcy litigation law for several years at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, LLP and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP in San Francisco.   While James excels in corporate and litigation law, his greatest desire as an attorney is to address and resolve each client's emotional and financial difficulties in every marital or custody case.   James' expertise and compassion results in premium representation throughout such cases.   James holds the attorney-client relationship, confidence and trust in highest regard.  

James enjoys mountain climbing and kayaking expeditions with his father, spending time with his mother, running, reading, and trying to tame his untamable cat, Gonzo.   Last but not least, James is a hopelessly addicted garage sale shopper every weekend.
