James J. Hoover, Senior Associate
Mr. James Hoover attended Santa Clara University, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelors degree in accounting with a minor in economics in 1998. In 2001 Mr. Hoover graduated summa cum laude from Santa Clara University School of Law. He ranked 4th in his class of over 200 students, receiving "top of the class" awards in the following classes: contracts, torts, commercial transactions, wills and trusts, dispute resolution and criminal procedure.
Mr. Hoover joined Hoover & Bechtel, LLP, in the fall of 2003 after practicing corporate refinancing and bankruptcy litigation law with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, LLP and with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP in San Francisco. In 2006 Mr. Hoover became a Senior Associate with Hoover & Bechtel. Mr. Hoover represents clients in all aspects of family law litigation, including child custody and visitation, as well as child and spousal support. He is knowledgeable in all areas of property characterization, valuation and division, including the effects of bankruptcy on family law matters. He has handled the complex issue of breach of fiduciary duty. The sensitive area of domestic violence is handled with concern and compassion.
Mr. Hoover pays particular attention to our client's emotional and financial difficulties in every marital or custody case. He will always act in our client's best interests, aggressively pursuing the client's rights under the law. As well as being an experienced trial lawyer he is also adept at the practical side of settlement.
