Registered Domestic Partnerships

California law allows for registered domestic partnerships for same sex couples and for senior citizens. Under California law registered domestic partners are entitled to the benefits of marriage. Domestic partners registered with the State of California rather than with a City or County must go through formal dissolution proceedings to dissolve the partnership.

The terminology for domestic partnerships is still evolving, and the exact level of rights and responsibilities conferred by a domestic partnership varies widely from place to place. The family law attorneys at Hoover & Bechtel, LLP, have experience with all aspects of the dissolution of a registered domestic partnership

All references contained within this website to divorce include the dissolution of a domestic partnership.
